چکیده

The performance stability and its recovery mechanisms of a partial nitritation-anammox process were investigated. A one-stage airlift enhanced micro-granules (AEM) system was operated for 650 days continuously to treat 50 mg-NH4/L wastewater. During the stable stage, high nitrogen removal efficiency 72.7 ± 8.4% lasting 230 successfully achieved under 0.28 L/min aeration rate 0.10–0.20 mg/L dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration. microbial consortium with good granularity appeared in red. specific activity anammox ammonia oxidation increased 1.02 0.93 g-N/g-VSS/d, respectively. Meanwhile, analysis showed AEM shifted dominant microflora from Proteobacteria Planctomycetes which Candidatus Brocadia abundance reached 35.0%. results reveal that long-term airlift-aeration promoted granulation further activities, abundances bacteria, suppressed nitrite-oxidizing bacteria. Optimizing DO control is also critical increment recovery.

Microbial resource management of one‐stage partial nitritation/anammox

About 30 full-scale partial nitritation/anammox plants are established, treating mostly sewage sludge reject water, landfill leachate or food processing digestate. Although two-stage and one-stage processes each have their advantages, the one-stage configuration is mostly applied, termed here as oxygen-limited autotrophic nitrification/denitrification (OLAND), and is the focus of this review. T...

Stable performance of non‐aerated two‐stage partial nitritation/anammox (PANAM) with minimal process control

Partial nitritation/anammox (PANAM) technologies have rapidly developed over the last decade, but still considerable amounts of energy are required for active aeration. In this study, a non-aerated two-stage PANAM process was investigated. In the first-stage upflow fixed-film bioreactor, nitratation could not be prevented at ammonium loading rates up to 186 mg N l(-1) d(-1) and low influent dis...

Mainstream partial nitritation and anammox: long-term process stability and effluent quality at low temperatures

The implementation of autotrophic anaerobic ammonium oxidation processes for the removal of nitrogen from municipal wastewater (known as "mainstream anammox") bears the potential to bring wastewater treatment plants close to energy autarky. The aim of the present work was to assess the long-term stability of partial nitritation/anammox (PN/A) processes operating at low temperatures and their re...

Integrating landfill bioreactors, partial nitritation and anammox process for methane recovery and nitrogen removal from leachate

A new process consisting of a landfill bioreactor, partial-nitritation (PN) and the anammox process has been developed for landfill leachate treatment. In this study, the landfill bioreactor exhibited excellent performance in methane-rich biogas recovery, with a specific biogas yield of 0.47 L gas g(-1) COD and methane percentages of 53-76%. PN was achieved in the aerobic reactor by high free a...

Small aggregates can cause nitrite accumulation in one-stage partial nitritation and anammox

Aerobic and anoxic ammonium-oxidizing bacteria (AerAOB and AnAOB) cooperate in partial nitritation/anammox systems to remove ammonium from wastewater. In this process, nitrite accumulation is not desirable, since it decreases the nitrogen removal rate and since it can potentially inhibit the AnAOB. This study addressed several aspects of the microbial aggregate size for three independent types ...
